Some steps to follow are listed below. You should complete work on all of these by Friday 20th, with a sample scene, including minimum 2 idents, viewable from your blog by the start of P1 Thursday 19th.
You can complete some of these steps/tasks simultaneously; this would be sensible and time-saving for steps 1-3.
1: BROWSE FOR INCOMPLETE POSTS
- prefix TBC to post title
- add TBC tag
- once completed, remove the title prefix and tag
2: UPDATE LINKS LISTS
- use your blog archive to view all your posts on 1 screen (click on the month/year arrows to reveal posts)
- with pen+paper make a list of all links lists you think these logically suggest
- create/update those links lists
- even if there's just ONE post right now, but you know you'll be
blogging more on this topic, get the links list set up, and from this
point, update links list/s as you add posts (in some cases you might a
post to more than one links list)
3: DB COMMENTS
- check (re-read) my comments
- tag any post that I've commented needs improving with DBC
- publish my comment once you've done this
- once you've made changes to reflect my feedback, tag with DBCdone and remove the DBC tag
4: COMPLETE STEPS 2+4+5
- Point 5 addresses steps 1+3+6.
- Complete step 2: Apply research - pitch, groups, revise idea
- Complete step 4: Pre-production
- Complete step 5: Practice exercises - equipment; planning; cinematography; editing; general media language
By this stage those steps should already be complete or near complete. You should not be in the situation of posting 'planning' evidence AFTER you've actually filmed!!! Take care with post publish dates: planning posts MUST precede filming/sample scene posts!!!
5: REVIEW STEPS 1+3
- these are two stages in your 'JOURNEY' that will continue right up your posting the final cut!
- they are also vast compared to others, so do not get into a panic over making these perfect in a short space of time
- review what you've done for each step in turn:
- Step 1: Initial Research - Opening Conventions; the industry
- Step 3: Genre, Audience
- Make a list of anything you think you need to add. Audience research will be ongoing, and you need to continually update on this (recordings + your response to audience feedback for example).
You will not complete these steps within 2 weeks; focus on making a clear, specific to-do list that you can work from.
6: POST A BLOG TO-DO SUMMARY
- having gone through posts and comments, and noted from links lists where you're lacking evidence of research + planning, create a post summarising your blog to-do list. Use whatever format is most user-friendly to you - your own checklist (embed a Word doc if you prefer). You can come back to and edit this post - use the strikethrough tool to denote a completed task; add more to your list (or in a fresh post as you prefer - you could also use multiple such posts organised by themes). As noted above, you are not expected to complete steps 1+3 for next week, but must have a very specific to-list for this.
