The organiser of the British + Irish Film Season, sampled back in September by Media students with the seminar on drones, has announced a special mini programme of contemporary Irish movies to mark St. Patrick's Day:G-Media sarl, organisers of the annual British & Irish Film Season (BIFS), in collaboration with the Irish Club of Luxembourg (ICL) and the Ireland-Luxembourg Chamber of Commerce (ILCC), and with the support of the Embassy of Ireland in Luxembourg, is organising a mini film festival in mid-March at the Cinèmathèque in Luxembourg city centre.

In keeping with the focus of BIFS on Indie productions, the two movies selected are low budget comedies with a social realist approach, centred on society's outsiders. Sanctuary (Wednesday 15th March, 1830) follows a special needs couple and their journey into romance, while The Young Offenders (Sunday 19th March, 1700) is a modern take on the old classic Whiskey Galore, partly inspired by a real-life drug bust. The director and star will attend the Sanctuary screening, as will actor Chris Walley for The Young Offenders.
Note that ...Offenders, which rivalled big-budget Hollywood studios for box office on its successful release in Ireland, was given a 15 age-rating by the UK's BBFC; you can see parental guidance on their website.Sanctuary was also 15-rated by the Irish ratings board, you can find parental guidance through ifco.ie.Tickets cost €8.80 each or €15 for both screenings, via www.bifilmseason.lu
If you prefer higher budget movie productions, there is of course the special screening of Bridget Jones's Baby in school on Tuesday 14th (starts 330) in aid of a girls' charity, organised by the student parliament!
NB: The trailer for Offenders contains strong language.
