If you have already finished, exported and passed up to me your stills film AND mise-en-scene film, you have two options for today's lesson (you could do a little of both):
1: Work on a detailed proposal for a film project on the topic of Images of Teens, which would have roles for 4-5 Yr9s, be appropriate for that age level, and be achievable within tight time limits. The idea not only could, but should be provocative, as this film will be used to inspire further projects from Yr9 Drama + Art classes, while Yr9 Music students will also soundtrack it. Create a blog post on this.
2: Analyse and discuss one or more film openings (you can borrow DVDs from me). You should: note what goes into a film opening (how long does the opening last; how many characters are we introduced to, + how much info are we given on these - can we tell hero/villain apart and if so how; what titles/idents are used/which names are highlighted; how much can we tell about the plot/narrative, and what clues are provided (mise-en-scene is often key for this); any particular media language which shapes the viewer's understanding?; what role does sound play? Could you guess the target audience and if so, what would you base this on?
